Xu Liu's design inspiration stemmed from the poetic verses of "shijing, Zheng Feng, Fusu". The designer has skillfully incorporated elements from the Sichuan style and regional design, creating a distinct identity for the project. The design reflects the rich cultural heritage of the local ethnic minorities, who form the majority of the region's residents. The architectural aesthetics of the project are deeply rooted in the local culture, giving it a unique charm and temperament.
The exhibition center stands out for its innovative use of materials and design elements. The elegant Chinese elements of rattan and wood veneer are carefully stacked, conveying a sense of ancient elegance. The project uses Dongde Mining stone, TOTO sanitary, Keding wood veneer, Dongpeng tiles, and CDN lighting, reflecting a blend of tradition and modernity. The project is spread over two floors, with the first floor having a height of 6000MM and the second floor 4500MM.
The project was initiated on June 10th, 2020, in Yunnan and was completed on April 30th, 2021. The design process involved extensive market research on local architectural features and humanistic features. The challenge was to design a project that met the usage needs and aesthetic standards of local customers. The result is a design that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant.
The exhibition center functions as a real estate sales center. It is advertised on print media and urban digital media to attract more customers, and it also collaborates with third parties. The entrance hall's background wall uses mosaics to form an abstract landscape map, and the towering antique wooden structure at the entrance injects an overwhelming momentum into the space. The indoor water pavilion endows the space with richer cultural characteristics, and the aluminum grille device keeps the interior and exterior interacting, presenting a natural and transparent sense of space.
Yunnan Lijiang Dongcheng International is a remarkable example of how design can bridge the gap between tradition and innovation. It is a testament to Xu Liu's ability to create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also culturally relevant and functional. This project is a worthy recipient of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2023, and it sets a high standard for future designs in the field.
